The reports combined both desk-based research and field-based research. The desk-based research involved thorough reviews of national reports, national and international research reports, and official statistical information, while field-based research involved the collection and analysis of a questionnaire completed by migrant mothers of children aged 2-6 in each of the partner countries. The purpose of the questionnaire was to collect information about the opinions of migrant mothers regarding their satisfaction with public services and social institutions in each country, as well as their language needs. Even though in some countries the situation seems to be more positive than in others, a common theme that emerged is that migrant mothers feel the need to receive language training in the L2 in topics related to their every-day needs. Such topics include interaction and communication in health care settings, education/school settings, social services settings, and in public offices settings.
